Dispatches 2019 presents the work Front Line Defenders has undertaken around the world for the protection and security of human rights defenders at risk in 2019, including the impact of grants, training, advocacy, visibility, rest & respite and other programs. In 2019, Front Line Defenders hosted 114 HRDs at the biennial Dublin Platform; presented its annual Awards to 5 LGBTI+ rights defenders in honor of the 50th annivesary of the Stonewall Uprising; and provided 626 protection grants to HRDs around the world.

Global Analysis 2018 details the physical assaults, defamation campaigns, digital security threats, judicial harassment, and gendered attacks faced by HRDs and women human rights defenders (WHRDs). December 2018 marked the 20th Anniversary of the HRD Declaration and the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, but HRDs around the world continue to face lethal threats from state, non-state, and corporate actors in their peaceful struggles for rights.

On 17 October 2016, human rights defenders Mr Sarayuth Ritthipin and Mr Chadet Kaewsin received a summons from the Chum Phae Police Station in Khon Kaen city, Isan region. They have been accused of libel and computer-related violations against government authorities.

On 27 July 2017, a Thai Court in Chaiyaphum province found human rights defender Suphap Khamlae guilty of encroaching on forest reserves and sentenced her to six months’ imprisonment under the National Forest Reserve Act. She is the wife of land rights defender Den Khamlae, who was also sentenced in absentia and subject to an arrest warrant despite being missing since April 2016.

On 7 June 2017, soldiers visited Chonticha Jaengrew’s parents’ home in the Lat Lum Kaeo District of central province Pathum Thani. Only her mother, whose health has deteriorated due to the stress of such recurring visits, was present. The soldiers pressured her to remind her daughter that she cannot travel without permission and must not engage in political activities. They accused Chonticha Jaengrew of violating an agreement signed in 2014, which the defender reports was obtained under duress.

Corporate Accountability Legislation in Ireland

The ICBHR is campaigning for new corporate accountability legislation to prevent abuses by making Irish-based companies accountable for a range of corporate human rights violations including forced labour, land grabs, attacks on human rights defenders, violence against women and denial of people's fundamental rights at work. The law would also allow victims to take companies to court in Ireland for damages
