Saif Ayedi is a Tunisian human rights defender, member of Bardo section of the Tunisian League for the Defence of Human Rights (LTDH), as well as Damj, the Tunisian Association for Justice and Equality where he works as a programme coordinator. He is also a member of the national campaign “Learn to Swim” that aims to put an end to impunity and police violence in Tunisia. His work focuses on promoting justice and equality for the LGBTIQ+ community in Tunisia.

Advances on freedom of expression have remained more limited than on freedom of association and assembly. The new Press Code, which was intended to liberalise the environment for journalists and strengthen freedom of expression maintained provisions on criminal defamation.
