یاسمن آریانی

مدافع حقوق بشر

Yasaman Aryani is a young women’s rights defender whose work is focused on campaigning against forced veiling in Iran.

Yasaman Aryani was first arrested on 2 August 2018, alongside many others, during a series of protests that occurred between July and August that year, against corruption within government and the deterioration of the economy.

Later that month, she was sentenced to one year imprisonment on the charge of ‘disrupting the public order’ by Branch 28 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court. She was released along with a large number of prisoners on 14 February 2019, as a part of a general pardon coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
