Linda Kasonde is a civil society activist and lawyer, and was the first woman to serve as President of the Law Association of Zambia. After finishing her term, she established Chapter One Foundation, which promotes human rights, human rights defenders, constitutionalism, social justice and the rule of law in Zambia through strategic litigation and advocacy.

Despite the appearance of a non-hostile environment against HRDs, harassment and threats against them are rampant but very subtle. HRDs facing most harassment are those engaged in governance-related advocacy, as well as journalists who venture into investigative journalism. She also established the law firm LCK Chambers.
