Pablo is a lawyer and member of the Asamblea Permanente de Derechos Humanos in La Matanza, a marginalized neighbourhood on the edge of Buenos Aires. He is an active indigenous rights defender and currently facing a series of threats as a result of an investigation the APDH led into a case of the death of a youth in police custody.
While in Argentina many human rights defenders (HRDs) can operate freely in the country, HRDs seeking justice for violations committed during the military dictatorship, journalists and trade unionists have been victims of death threats, harassment, arbitrary arrest, prosecutions, police violence and defamation campaigns.
