HRD, Musician

Maykel Castillo Perez is an activist, musician and defender of the right to artistic freedom. Known as "El Osorbo", part of his activism has been linked to the lyrics of his rap songs in which he criticizes the Cuban government and highlights the situation of poor neighborhoods in Havana, his native city. His music and the content of the lyrics have generated a significant number of followers. Maykel is also part of the San Isidro Movement, being one of the main promoters of the # NoAlDecreto349 campaign.

Concepts such as "public order" and "national security" in Cuba have been used to criminalise HRDs with charges of "attacks" and "rebellion".
