Gökçe Baltacı
Gökçe Baltacı is a woman human rights defender who conducted social adaptation workshops, fieldwork, and project coordination at Tarlabaşı Community Center (TTM) between 2016 and 2018. She has been working as the General Coordinator since 2018. She is also a member of the supervisory board of the Nonviolence Center and volunteers with many non-governmental organizations. Throughout this process, she has been working on women's rights, children's rights, freedom of association, and inclusive/alternative education. She continues her graduate education in the Early Childhood Department.
Human rights defenders (HRDs) in Turkey have been subjected to judicial harassment, including criminal prosecution, violent attacks, threats, surveillance, prolonged arbitrary detention, and ill-treatment. In the aftermath of an attempted coup in July 2016, the environment for the work of HRDs deteriorated even further.
