Georges Mpaga
Georges Mpaga is National Executive President of ROLBG (Réseau des Organisations Libres de la Société Civile du Gabon). Over the last ten years in Gabon and Central Africa he has focused on enforced disappearances, extrajudicial executions, torture and arbitrary detentions including prisoners' policies. In addition, he advocates in favour of civic space hindered in his country and conducts active campaigns on inhumane prison conditions.
Gabon is one of the countries in the central African sub-region where human rights defenders (HRDs) are provided with substantial space to conduct their work. However, press freedom has occasionally been marred by the harassment, intimidation and arrest of a number of journalists who reported on sensitive issues.
