Arnulfo Cerón Soriano

Popular Front of the Mountain (FPM)

Arnulfo Cerón Soriano is a lawyer and human rights defender belonging to the Naua people of the region of La Montaña, Guerrero. Also, as a member of the Popular Front of the Mountain (FPM), his work as part of this movement has been dedicated to organizing the colonies and communities of the region in the defense of human rights. He has collaborated with the Tlachinollan Mountain Human Rights Center in the past, defending the rights of indigenous peoples. In 2014, he was actively involved in the struggle of the parents of the "43 de Ayotzinapa", who disappeared in Iguala in September 2014. Recently, as part of the FPM, I accompanied a group of street vendors evicted from downtown Tlapa, as part of a policy of "reaccommodation" promoted by the city council, in the city of Ayotzinapa.


Human rights defenders (HRDs) and journalists in Mexico are subject to intimidation, legal harassment, arbitrary detention, death threats, acts of physical aggression, enforced disappearances and killings as a result of their activities in defence of human rights and the exercise of freedom of expression and journalism.
