Feminita

Kazakhstan Feminist Initiative

The Kazakhstan Feminist Initiative "Feminita" is a grassroots queer-feminist human rights organisation working to protect the rights of women, from the most oppressed groups in Kazakhstan (lesbians, bisexuals, queer and trans women, women with disabilities, to women engaged in sex work). The organisation has been trying to register as a legal entity in Kazakhstan since December 2017.

Kazakhstan

Human rights defenders (HRDs) in Kazakhstan are faced with physical and verbal threats, acts of intimidation, judicial harassment, and arbitrary detention; their work continues to be hindered by legislative obstacles that vastly infringe on the rights to freedom of association, assembly, and expression, as well as human rights monitoring and promotion.
