Yosra Frawes is a prominent Tunisian feminist and woman human rights defender, and the Former President of the Tunisian Association of Democratic Women and FIDH delegate in Tunisia. She is lawyer and a legal expert involved in the drafting of the texts of the democratic transition and in the drafting of the law against violence against women adopted in 2017. She is also a trainer specialised in Human Rights in general and Women's Rights in particular, as well as the author and co-author of several publications on equality issues.

Algeria

The lifting of Algeria’s 19-year state of emergency in early 2011 did not have a positive effect on the situation of human rights defenders (HRDs). Human rights defenders have continued to be subjected to harassment, threats, physical attacks, arbitrary detention and legal proceedings.
