Front Line Defenders presented Ana Mirian Romero from Honduras with its annual awrd for human rights defenders at risk at a ceremony in Dublin in June, and in April hosted Czech philosopher and political dissident, Professor Jan Sokol for its Annual Lecture, co-hosted with Trinity College and University College Dublin.

Narges Mohammadi is Deputy Director of the Defenders of Human Rights Centre (DHRC). She was elected as President of the Executive Committee of the National Council of Peace in Iran, a broad coalition against war and for the promotion of human rights. She was sentenced to 16 years for launching a campaign to abolish the death penalty in Iran.
