Interrogation period and detention of Mohammed Zoghour extended

On 5 November 2015 the Israeli military court extended the interrogation period of human rights defender Mr Mohammed Zoghour by 8 days in Shikma Detention Centre.

The human rights defender was arrested from his home on 28 October 2015 by the Israeli army and Israel Security Agency, following a non-violent mass protest in Hebron which demanded that the bodies of Palestinians killed during alleged attacks be handed over. The protest was forcibly dispersed by the Israeli army.

Mohammed Zoghour was taken to Ashkelon Investigation Centre following his arrest, detained incommunicado, and denied access to his lawyer. No charges have been brought against him. The human rights defender is reportedly being forcibly deprived of sleep. His interrogation period was extended twice by the military court, the first being on 29 October 2015 for 8 days, and the second on 5 November 2015 for a further 8 days.
