Front Line Defenders today launched its Global Analysis on the situation of human rights defenders (HRDs) at risk around the world. The report details the variety of risks, threats and attacks faced by HRDs around the world, and examples of HRDs continuing to defend and advance the rights of their communities and societies despite threats to their lives.

In July 2020, Front Line Defenders launched Cypher (@cypher_comics on Instagram), a digital comics magazine that advances the organization’s storytelling and narrative framing work in collaboration with and in support of HRDs. Working with artists from around the world, including the award-winning visual storyteller, Beldan Sezen, as creative director, the ’zine is a monthly publication featuring stories of HRDs, their work and the challenges they face.

Dispatches 2019 presents the work Front Line Defenders has undertaken around the world for the protection and security of human rights defenders at risk in 2019, including the impact of grants, training, advocacy, visibility, rest & respite and other programs. In 2019, Front Line Defenders hosted 114 HRDs at the biennial Dublin Platform; presented its annual Awards to 5 LGBTI+ rights defenders in honor of the 50th annivesary of the Stonewall Uprising; and provided 626 protection grants to HRDs around the world.

يفصّل التحليل الشامل لسنة 2019 الاعتداءات الجسدية وحملات التشهير وتهديدات الأمن الرقمي والمضايقة القضائية والهجمات المجندرة التي يواجهها المدافعون والمدافعات عن حقوق الإنسان حول العالم. كما أظهرت الأحداث الأخيرة من هونج كونج إلى بغداد ، فإن المدافعين  و المدافعات عن حقوق الإنسان  في طليعة التغيير الاجتماعي ويواجهون / تواجهن تهديدات ومخاطر كبيرة للقيام بذلك - سواء طالبوا بالحريات المدنية والسياسية أو حماية البيئة ومكافحة تغير المناخ.

The 2019 Dublin Platform was held from 2 to 4 October in Dublin Castle and convened 114 human rights defenders (HRDs) from 90 countries, along with a wide range of other international guests. This remarkable gathering provides HRDs with an opportunity to amplify their voices internationally and to major stakeholders in the human rights field and learn effective strategies to help protect them in their work.
