Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission

The Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission is a national human rights institution, dedicated to educating, promoting, protecting and monitoring human rights and the investigation of human rights abuses. The commission has been an active body in a highly volatile and challenging environment and has been in the forefront for the protection of human rights.

The continuing lack of security and instability in the country impact negatively on the ability of human rights defenders (HRDs) to carry out their work. They are subjected to threats, intimidation, harassment, surveillance, arbitrary detention, forced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.
