Amie Bojang-Sissoho
Amie Bojang-Sissoho is Programme Coordinator of The Gambia Committee on Traditional Practices Affecting the Health of Women and Children (GAMCOTRAP), an organisation working in the area of sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and children. Amie's work involves advocacy and social mobilization at grassroots level and well as engaging the media to re-echo the work on women’s human rights. Her objective is to bridge the gap between policy and practice and to help people to realize that the work of GAMCOTRAP does not occur in a vacuum but also requires commitment of the state to protect and promote the rights of women and children. The role of the radio and television is critical in her work as the majority of Gambians do not have access to the print and new forms of social media.
