Claudia Susana Quintero Sandoval

Claudia Susana Quintero Sandoval is a Mayo-Yoreme indigenous woman human rights defender and social worker from Ohuira, Sinaloa. She is a member of the “Aquí No” collective, through which she defends the territory and rights of the Mayo-Yoreme people of the Ohuira ejido.

She organises workshops on women’s rights, health and the defence of their territory. She is also involved in projects to preserve the Yorem Nokka language. She is currently defending the rights of her community against the risks and dangers posed by the construction of an ammonia plant and a methanol plant in Ohuira Bay, Sinaloa, which threaten the bay’s ecosystem.
