Francisco Aliaga Huentrutripay is a Mapuche Williche lawyer, human rights defender and member of the Aylla Rewe of Ngen Mapu Kintuante. He provides legal support to Mapuche Williche communities in defense of their collective rights, particularly in matters relating to the protection of their territory, indigenous consultation and participation in decisions likely to affect their ways of life, community organisation and cultural rights.
As a member of Aylla Rewe, Francisco Aliaga Huentrutripay is also involved in defending the Pilmaiquén River and the sacred site of Ngen Mapu Kintuante against the impacts associated with hydroelectric projects being developed in the territory. In this context, his work contributes to the protection of the territorial, cultural and spiritual rights of the Mapuche Williche people and to the strengthening of their legal and community defense strategies.
