Fidelis Mudimu - Protection Coordinator, Southern & Eastern Africa
Fidelis has worked in human rights for more than 25 years and initially focused on comprehensive rehabilitation for victims of human rights violations - specifically survivors of organised violence and torture (OVT). This holistic intervention included medical treatment, psycho-social support (including counselling), prevention of harm (protection) and humanitarian assistance. He joined Front Line Defenders as Protection Coordinator in 2019 and lead the efforts for timely and appropriate response to human rights defenders at risk in East and Southern Africa, ensuring that holistic and effective protection support was provided. Fidelis has a passion for building the capacity of Human Rights Defenders to continue their work in individual and collective safety, their psychosocial well being and continuous learning on the important work they carry out.
