#Raid / Break-in / Theft
In recent years, Front Line Defenders has observed an increase in raids and break-ins in the offices of human rights defenders. We include in this category break-ins perpetrated by unknown individuals, when they appear to be motivated by the human rights work of the HRD. Often, equipment and documentation are stolen, which affects the ability of HRDs to continue their work. We also include raids and searches carried out by law enforcement agents. While they may be lawful, when carried out in compliance with relevant regulations, they are in most cases linked to instances of judicial harassment.
