On 5 December 2020, a group of individuals with known links to the extreme right stole a canvas which was part of a display commemorating the anniversary of the murder of human rights defender Camilo Catrillanca. The canvas was stolen from the premises of the centre of historical memory, Londres 38, in Santiago.

23 January 2020

In the early morning of 12 January 2020, three unidentified persons illegally entered one of Prepara Familia’s collection centers. They left hours later, after threatening members of the organisation to "report them to the FAES" (The Special Actions Force of Venezuela), for allegedly keeping expired medications and other supplies in the collection center. In addition, the invaders stole non-perishable food and dairy formulas that were stored in the building.

On 1 April 2023, journalist and human rights defender Ramachandran Sanath was summoned to appear before the Terrorism Investigation Department (TID) office in Nuwareliya (Central Province) for an inquiry on 6 April 2023. The summons was delivered to Ramachandran Sanath’s home in Kandy. The TID refused to disclose the purpose of the inquiry. Front Line Defenders is concerned about the harassment of Ramachandran Sanath, and believe this treatment is linked to his human rights and journalism work.

On 28 January 2021, the Misdemeanour Court in Tunis acquitted human rights defender Ahmed Ghram.

On 17 January 2021, Tunisian police raided the house of human rights defender Ahmed Ghram and arrested him. Ahmed Ghram is facing the charge of 'incitement to civil disobedience', regarding several of his Facebook posts, one of which he shared on the same day he was detained.

On the evening of 21 January 2023, Thulani Rudolf Maseko was gunned down at close range, shot through the windows of his home, in front of his wife and children in Luhleko, Mbabane by unknown assailants. Front Line Defenders believes, and is deeply concerned that, the killing of Thulani Rudolf Maseko appears to be a deliberate targeting and silencing of the lawyer and human rights defender, in direct retaliation to his legitimate work in defence of human rights.

On the morning of 20 April 2020, Nurcan Baysal received a call from Diyarbakır Police Headquarters, requesting her to go the station in the afternoon to give a statement relating to a new investigation into her online postings. This call came less than three weeks after she had given a statement concerning tweets she had posted in which she questioned the authorities’ response to the Covid 19 pandemic.

On 22 May 2023, Kazakhstani human rights defender Galym Agleulov was barred from entering Uzbekistan. The human rights defender was travelling to Tashkent to participate as an observer in the upcoming appeal hearing in the Higher Court of Uzbekistan of the 22 protesters detained in the Karakalpakstan Autonomous Republic in Uzbekistan in July 2022. The court hearing was scheduled for 23 May 2023.

On 20 January 2022, Chechen law enforcement officers physically attacked human rights defenders and lawyers Sergey Babinets and Oleg Khabibrakhmanov and woman human rights attorney Natalia Dobronravova, while they were providing legal assistance for their clients in Nizhnii Novgorod. During the incident, Chechen officials abducted the human rights defenders client, Zarema Musaeva, who is the mother of human rights defender Abubakar Yangulbayev. Front Line Defenders believes that these attacks and the abduction is related to the human rights defenders human rights work.

On 4 February 2021, the Lebanese police found human rights defender Lokman Slim shot dead inside his car in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon. A medical examination revealed that the human rights defender had been shot four times in the head and once in the back.

On 28 February 2020, the lawyer of migrant rights defender Salam Kamal-Aldeen submitted an appeal against his deportation order to the Mytilini district court of Lesbos. Following his arrest on 11 December 2019, Salam Kamal-Aldeen learnt that he had been registered on the National List of Undesired Aliens, and banned from entering Greece. He was notified that he had to leave the territory within 30 days, which forced him to leave the country on 31 December 2019.

On 23 July 2016, 78 year old human rights defender Mr Mi Chongbiao and his 68 year old wife, Ms Li Kezhen, were reportedly assaulted by officers from the national security bureau in Guiyang, Guizhou province. The couple have been arbitrarily detained for over four years in a number of different locations under the control and surveillance of the Guiyang City police, the Public Security Bureau and hired security guards.

On 22 February 2024 Russian de-facto law enforcement officers in occupied Crimea raided the premises of the house of the woman human rights defender and journalist Lutfiye Zudieva in the city of Dzhankoi. After the raid, the law enforcement officials brought the woman human rights defender in for questioning at the Center for Combating Extremism in Simferopol. The authorities are accusing her of “abuse of freedom of mass information,” a crime, envisioned by Part 9, Article 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

On 23 October 2023 colleagues of woman human rights defender Nasta Loika reported that over the weekend, between 22 and 23 October 2023, prison Authorities transfered Nasta Loika to the Homel Penal Colony #4, where she will be serving her sentence.

On 13 October 2023, the Belarus Committee for State Security (KGB) included Nasta Loika in a list of “persons, participating in terrorist activities.”
