Zoán Tanís Dávila Roldán is a Black feminist activist, woman human rights defender and lawyer, member of the project "La Colectiva Feminista en Construcción" that organizes against state and politics repression, displacement, impoverishment and other forms of anti-Black colonial, capitalist and gender-based violence.

Human rights defenders working on issues related to domestic violence,freedom of expression, environmental rights and discrimination againstpersons based on their sexual orientation and gender identity areparticularly at risk in Puerto Rico.

The most human rights abuses against human rights defenders include the use of excessive force by security forces (especially the police) and harassment and threats based on sexual orientation or genderidentity. Other human rights problems included corruption byofficials, domestic violence, discrimination against women, and impunity.
