Peter Apondi Hagono is an experienced Counselor/Educator with a demonstrated history of working for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), hospital and health care industry. He has proven community organizing, mobilizing, engagement and facilitation skills. He has a wide experience and exposure of over 13 years in counseling, training, mentorship, health education and leadership roles.

Peter currently works as an Adherence Counselor at Health Options for Young Men on HIV/AIDS/STIs (HOYMAS). He is the former staff of Coptic Hospital – Hope Center for Infectious Diseases, Liverpool VCT, World Friends (Amici Del Mondo) Onlus, Hope Worldwide Kenya (HWWK) German Foundation for World Population (DSW), Movement of Men against AIDS in Kenya (MMAAK) and Solidarity against HIV/AIDS in Kenya (SOLAK).

Peter is pursuing a BS degree in Community and Public Health at the University of the People, California – USA. He holds a Higher Diploma in Counseling Studies from the Kenya Association of Professional Counsellors (KAPC), a Certificate in Counseling Supervision from the Kenya Association of Professional Counsellors (KAPC) and a Certificate in Home and Community Based Care (HBC) from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

While Kenya maintains the appearance of a country where the public space is open, specific categories of human rights defenders encounter a wide range of risks as a result of their work.
