Lucia Lagunes Huerta
Lucia Lagunes Huerta is a feminist journalist and Mexican sociologist specialized in gender perspective, non-sexist journalism, human rights, health, work and childhood. After working on various projects in 2005, she took over the Directorate of Communication and Information for Women (CIMAC) and the news agency Cimacnoticias. Lucia is also co-founder of the National Network of Journalists (Mexico) and co-coordinator of the International Network of Journalists with a Gender Vision. She is a member of the Advisory Council of Civil Society of UN Women-Mexico and the Council for Prevention And Eradicate Discrimination in Mexico City.
Human rights defenders (HRDs) and journalists in Mexico are subject to intimidation, legal harassment, arbitrary detention, death threats, acts of physical aggression, enforced disappearances and killings as a result of their activities in defence of human rights and the exercise of freedom of expression and journalism.
