Consultancy project: Safely delivering small grants to human rights defenders at risk

Front Line Defenders is seeking a consultant to work on a project focused on methods of secure delivery of small grants (up to €7,500) to human rights defenders at risk in countries all around the world.

In 2021 Front Line Defenders Protection Grants Programme provided 1045 protection grants totalling €2,782,201 to 842 individuals and 203 organisations at risk in 105 countries. In a global context where crisis situations can disrupt access to traditional banking and where repressive governments seek to target human rights defenders receiving international support, it is important for the organization to review and update how it delivers support.

For this reason Front Line Defenders is seeking expressions of interest from consultants who would be able to review our current processes and to research and analyse options for alternative means of safe delivery.

Prospective consultants should have:

- experience related to systems for international financial transfers and methods for the secure delivery of funds globally;

- an understanding of the importance of confidentiality and digital security;

- experience of working in complex environments with a focus on ethics and integrity.

The project will ideally be completed before the end of 2022.

Closing date for applications: 25 April 2022.

Please contact recruit@frontlinedefenders.org to express interest in this role, for more info and to ask any questions about what is envisioned.
