About Kafeel Khan

Kafeel KhanDr. Kafeel Khan is a medical doctor and human rights defender who has been vocal about the discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act. The defender came to be known as a whistle-blower in the case of medical negligence which lead to the death of 60 children in the BRD hospitalin Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh in 2017. Dr. Kafeel spent about nine months in jail before he was granted bail.

Kafeel Khan granted conditional bail

On 1 September 2020, the Allahabad High Court granted bail and released human rights defender Kafeel Khan. The defender was booked under the National Security Act and had been in jail since his arrest on 29 January 2020, on allegations that he delivered a provocative speech on 10 December 2020 during an anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protest.
