On 31 January 2014, human rights defender Ms Alexandra Dvoretskaya received a message on VKontakte, a social networking site, threatening her with death. Human rights lawyer Ms Irina Khrunova and the human rights organization Agora have been publicly accused of instigating a plot against the prison administration of Penal Colony N14 because they have raised concerns about the ill-treatment of prisoners. Ms Irina Khrunova is the lawyer of Ms Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, a member of Pussy Riot who is currently serving her sentence inside Penal Colony N14, who announced she was undertaking a hunger strike in protest at the ill-treatment of prisoners at the institution.
