Syria: Shameful attack on families of detainees

Shameful attack yesterday on the families of detainees by the Syrian authorities with the number detained now estimated by HRW at 34 including a member of the al-Bunni family. Anwar al-Bunni was the winner of the Front Line Award in 2008: http://www.frontlinedefenders.org/node/1890

Excellent quote from HRW's Sarah Leah Whitson: "President Bashar al-Asad's recent calls for reform ring hollow when his security services still beat and detain anyone who actually dares to call for reform. Instead of beating families of Syria's political prisoners, President al-Asad should be reuniting them with their loved ones.
