Dublin Conference on Internet Freedom

It was good to have the opportunity to make a presentation at the OSCE Dublin Conference on Internet Freedom last week as it enabled me to raise the cases of human rights defenders Roza Tuletaeva (Kazakhstan), Maxim Efimov (Russia) and Ali Abdulemam (Bahrain). I also raised concerns about the UK Government's damaging proposals for mass surveillance of the Internet.

Kyrgyzstan: Kyrgyz Supreme Court must act on reported fair trial violations in Askarov case, ODIHR delegation saysposted on: 2011/12/19

Bishkek, 16 December 2011 – After visiting prominent human rights defender Azimjan Askarov in prison, a delegation from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) urged Kyrgyzstan’s Supreme Court to take fair trial violations and indications of torture into account when reviewing the case of Askarov and other defendants convicted in relation to the June 2010 violence in the south of the country.

Vienna: United States leaves high level OSCE meeting in protest at exclusion of Russian Chechen Friendship Societyposted on: 2007/09/14

On 13 September 2007, at the first session of the OSCE High-Level Meeting on Victims of Terrorism, the USA delegation left the meeting in protest at the decision not to allow the Russian-Chechen Friendship Society to register for the conference.
