
Human rights defenders Brahim Sabbar and Ahmed Sbai are currently detained in the Laâyoune Civil ‘Black Prison’. Brahim Sabbar and Ahmed Sbai are are members of the Saharoui Association of Victims of Grave Violations Committed by Morocco (ASVDH) which documents abuses committed by Moroccan authorities in Western Sahara. On 6 March 2007, they were sentenced to one year in prison by a court in Laayoune. Their appeal has been repeatedly postponed.
