On Friday 13 February, after a fourth court ruling ordering that Jestina Mukoko receive medical treatment, she was finally transferred from the Chikurubi Maximum Prison to the Avenues Clinic.
Further Information
Both the state and defense doctors' reports agreed on her critical medical conditions and the need for urgent treatment. She will now remain at the Avenues Clinic, under police surveillance, until the next court hearing scheduled to assess her medical conditions, on 27 February.
Three previous court rulings ordering medical treatment were not complied with. Following the third ruling, on 12 February, Jestina Mukoko was brought to the Avenues Clinic but she was refused admission to the hospital and was brought back to prison.
