On 23 November 2010, human rights defender Mr Abdallah Abu Rahma had his detention extended by an Israeli military judge who accepted a last minute petition filed by the military prosecution.

Mr Abu Rahma was arrested on 10 December 2009 and was sentenced to one year imprisonment. He was scheduled to be released on 25 November 2010 but his detention was extended by the Israeli Military Court of Appeals. Abdallah Abu Rahma is a secondary school teacher and the head of the Bil’in Popular Committee against the Wall, which carries out activities in protest against the wall constructed by the Israeli authorities.

Abdallah Abu Rahma was sentenced to a year's imprisonment by an Israeli Military Court, for organising non-violent demonstrations against the Israeli-built barrier at the West Bank village of Bi'lin. He was convicted of incitement and organising illegal demonstrations and was sentenced to 12 months in prison, a six-month suspended sentence if he re-offends and a fine of 5,000 NIS (£870).

Front Line is concerned for the physical and psychological integrity of Mr Abdallah Abu Rahma as he continues to be held in Israeli detention.

Front Line welcomes the news that, on 13 January 2010, human rights defenders Mohammad Othman and Jamal Juma were finally released from detention. Jamal Juma was released without any specific restriction, whilst a fine of 10,000 NIS (Shekels) was imposed on Mohammed Othman and he will not be permitted to leave the country until the investigation into his case has closed.

A British human rights lawyer who was due to speak at a conference near Jerusalem organised by a international NGO was denied entry to Israel, detained overnight and deported, despite an Israeli court order allowing her to be admitted to the country.
