A Mapuche chief who was given a 61 day suspended sentence for threatening police officers and obstructing public property on 24 February 2006 in Temuco, Chile, has filed a criminal complaint against the Temuco police. Lonko (chief) and human rights defender Juana Calfunao Paillalef, of the indigenous Mapuche community of Juan Pailllalef in the Cunco district of the Araucania region of Chile has filed a case against the Padre las Casas Police station for illegal entry into her home, illegal confiscation of her property and illegal detention.
