Tunisia: break-in in the office of human rights lawyer Radhia Nasraoui

The office of human rights lawyer Radhia Nasraoui, in Tunis, was broken into during the night between 30 April to 1 May 2010. A computer, containing documents of cases Radhia Nasraoui is working on, was taken. This is the fifth time her office has been entered and documents stolen.

Further Information

It is believed that the break in occurred in connection with a case Radhia Nasraoui is working on, which involves a member of the ruling elite. The case is scheduled to be heard by the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights during its May session, currently being held in the Gambia.

Radhia Nasraoui has long been victim of harassment by the Tunisian authorities because of her human rights work. A number of human rights lawyers have also been victim of break-ins in their offices, aimed at intimidating them and accessing their files and documents.
