Iran: UPDATES Mr Kayvan Samimi still held in solitary confinement - Mr Bahaman Amoee sentenced to seven years and four months in prison and 32 lashes

Front Line has recently learned that Mr Kayvan Samini is being held in solitary confinement again following a period of temporary release while Mr Bahaman Ahmadi Amoee has been sentenced to seven years and 4 months in prison and 32 lashes.

Front Line has learned that Mr Kayvan Samimi, a member of the Arbitrary Detentions Investigation Committee and the editor of the banned magazine Nameh, was granted temporary release from prison for 10 days on 9 December in order to attend his daughter's wedding. He has since returned to Evin Prison where he is being held in solitary confinement in Section 209. Mr Kayvan Samimi was arrested on 15 June 2009 following the presidential elections.

On 4 January 2010, a Revolutionary Court in Tehran sentenced Mr Bahaman Ahamadi Amoee to seven years and four months in prison and 32 lashes. The sentence includes five years for "colluding with intent to harm national security" one year for "propaganda against the system" one year and 32 lashes for "disrupting public security" and four months for "insulting the president." His lawyer is lodging an appeal within the required 20 days and will request his release on bail until the appeal is heard. Bahaman Amoee is being held in Section 350 of Evin Prison.
