Iran:UPDATE - Human rights lawyer, Mohammad Dadkhah, released on heavy bail

Front Line welcomes the release of human rights defender, Mr Mohammad Ali Dadkhah, who has been released today on bail of 500 million Toman (USD 500.000). Mohammad Ali Dadkhah is a prominent human rights lawyer and founding member of the Defenders of Human Rights Center (DHRC). On 6 July 2009, security officers arrested Mohammad Ali Dadkhah at his office in Tehran as he and other lawyers met to review the new by-laws restricting the work of the Bar Association. Front Line remains deeply concerned about other human rights defenders who remain in detention following the post-election protests of June 2009. Front Line calls upon the authorities in Iran to drop all charges against Mohammad Ali Dadkhah and other human rights defenders who were targeted because of there work in defending human rights.
