DRC: Human rights defenders Floribert Bahizire, Dolly Inefo Mbunga and Donat Tshikay released

Human rights defenders Floribert Bahizire, Dolly Inefo Mbunga and Donat Tshikaya who were arrested on 15 March 2009 were released on the evening of the 17 March.

Further Information

The National Network of Human rights organisations in the DRC iissued a statement in which they thanked all those who had taken action on behalf of their colleagues. However the statement also highlighted the fact that the offices of RENADHOC (National Network of Human Rights NGOs of the Democratic Republic of Congo remain shut down and under police surveillance.
