Azerbaijan - Security grant to imprisoned HRD Vidadi Asganderov for legal fees and financial support

In December 2011, Front Line Defenders Security Grants Programme awarded a grant of €3,004 to the imprisoned HRD Vidadi Asganderov in Azerbaijan. This grant paid for legal fees and financial support for his family.

He was arrested on his way to the April 2nd Great People's Day protest in Baku, but charged with interfering in the November 2010 Parliamentary elections.

Vidadi Asganderov is the Director of the NGO “Promotion of Democracy Defence” and a member of the Civil Movement for Democracy “Public Chamber”. He is currently serving a three-year prison sentence.
