Posted 29 September 2008 The Irish Life Women Mean Business award celebrates the achievements of women in business but also recognises the impact that this success can have on broader society.

“We live in a world that demands the very best from us if we want to succeed – if we want to stand out from the crowd and be recognised.  Success however, means different things to different people – we don’t all want to be chiefs but with hard work and vision we want to ‘believe’ that we can achieve what we desire. This event gives attendees the inspiration and motivation, which is sometimes needed to reach our goals.  It also gives our readers, their mentors and peers, the opportunity to nominate or self-nominate for one of a number of important awards." said Rosemary Delaney publisher of WMB.

“In accepting this award I am conscious not of my own role but of the courageous work done by the thousands of women human rights defenders around the world who put their lives on the line on a daily basis, without thinking of anything except the justice of their cause and the future of their families and communities. These are the women with the vision and power to change the world. I dedicate this award to them” said Mary Lawlor.
