Further Information
Posted 04/09/2008 Mansour Osanloo was recently transferred from Evin prison in Tehran to Rajaei prison in the city of Karaj. Reports indicate that on 9 July 2008, Mansour Osanloo may have been taken to court for a further arraignment instead of to a pre-arranged hospital appointment and that he has since been transferred to Hall 10 in Reformatory 4 of Rajaei Prison. Mansour Osanloo is known to have a heart condition and poor eye-sight and he was reportedly previously told by prison authorities that he would be transferred to a hospital for medical treatment.
Mansour Osanloo had previously been arrested on 22 December 2005 and detained incommunicado at Evin prison for a period of 7 months. On 8 November 2006, he was again arrested and detained for several hours along with nine members of Sherkat-e Vahed. On 19 November 2006, he was arrested in Tehran by plain-clothed policemen and subsequently detained in section 209 of Evin prison. He was denied access to legal representation until December 2006 and was released on 19 December 2006.
Front Line is concerned that the transfer of Mansour Osanloo to Rajaei Prison is directly related to his legitimate peaceful activities in defence of human rights in Iran, in particular the rights of workers to enjoy freedom of assembly and freedom of association. Front Line expresses concern for his physical and pschological integrity given the fact that he requires medical attention.
