Colombia: Jackeline Rojas victim of continued death threats and intimidation

I am deeply concerned about the case of Jackeline Rojas, a prominent human rights defender in Colombia. She is the coordinator and legal representative for the Organisation Femenina Popular in Magdalena Medio, South Bolivar, Colombia. Jackeline Rojas and the OFP work to empower women and those who say no to war and violence. The OFP has documented 135 separate incidents against members of the OFP.

Since 2001, Jackeline Rojas has been the victim of death threats, and intimidation. There has also been an attempt to kill her by paramilitary groups. On 3 December 2003, her brother Jose de Jesus Rojas Castaneda, a committee member of the organisation was killed by paramilitaries.

I urge you to take immediate action to protect Jackeline Rojas and to ensure that the members of the OFP and other human rights defenders are able to pursue their legitimate work without fear of arrest or intimidation.
