Further information
Front Line fears that national human rights organisations such as Associaçã Mãos Livres, Associaçã Justiça, Paz e Democracia (AJPD) and SOS Habitat -Angola, and international organisations such as Open Society -Angola are at risk of being shut down. These organisations may face legal actions to shut down their organisations similiar to what happened to the Cabinda based organisation Mpalabanda (Associação Cívica de Cabinda). On the 20 July 2006, a provincial tribunal in Cabinda, ruled that Mpalabanda should be banned. Mpalabanda apealled the decision and on 14 September 2006, the organisation was officially closed. Mpalabanda's appeal has not been heard as yet and The organisation no longer operates.
