Front Line Small Grants Program
Front Line has a small grants program which in 2007 disbursed €270,343 to Human Rights Defenders at risk around the world. Grants are given to organisations working for human rights as well as to individual human rights defenders at risk. Grants are given for the specific purpose of strengthening the protection of human rights defenders at risk. Grants are for amounts up to a maximum of €6,000.
Front Line Fellowship & Internships for human rights defenders
The purpose of the Fellowship will be to offer a possibility for human rights defenders to take some time out from their normal work to undertake a project which will further develop their capacities and contribute to the protection of human rights defenders internationally.
Front Line is very pleased to announce that it is launching an internship for postgraduate students of the University of Peking’s International Human Rights Programme. The internship is funded by the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs.
The purpose of the internship will be to offer a possibility for further study of the relevant international standards and mechanisms with regard to the protection of human rights defender and to gain experience of working in an international NGO whose focus is on human rights defenders. Capacity to work in English is essential.
Front Line has launched an internship to provide support for the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders of the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights. The internship will last for 12 months and will be based at the ACHPR in Banjul, the Gambia. Front Line will prioritise the recruitment of interns who have experience as a human rights defender in Africa.
