Baghdad: Front Line launches "Iraq - The Untold Story" a new collection of testimonies by Iraqi human rights defenders

On Wednesday, 31 December 2008 in the Petroleum Cultural Club, Front Line launched "Iraq - The Untold Story," a collection of personal testimonies by 13 Iraqi human rights defenders. The report was launched in co-operation with the Iraqi Journalist Rights Defense Association (IJRDA). The lunch was attended by many human rights defenders, journalists and some Iraqi officials.

Posted 02 January 2009. Mr. Ibrahim Al Srage, head of (IJRDA) emphasized “the fact that human rights organizations are on the rise in Iraq and educating people about their rights.” Also he explained that “Iraq suffered from human rights violations for more than three decades and there was no human rights organization inside Iraq to challenge these violations. However, the situation has changed after the 9th of April 2003.”
Also, some human rights defenders talked about human rights violations in their areas. The lunch was concluded by the distribution of the Front Line publication "Testimonies of Iraqi Human Rights Defenders"
