On 7-8 October 2008, in a major inter-institutional initiative, the European Commission, the European Parliament and the United Nations marked the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by convening a high-level conference in Brussels, entitled "The Defenders take the floor". It was an occasion to review the international and regional support mechanisms that have been developed in favour of human rights defenders. New York: Front Line and the American Ireland Fund launch Friends of Front Line USAposted on: 2008/02/05

On January 30 Front Line, with the support of the American Ireland Fund, launched an exciting new initiative, Friends of Front Line USA in New York .The event hosted by Brian Jacobs, was attended by more than 100 guests. Friends of Front Line will work to build a constituency of committed supporters who will help to build awareness of Front Line's efforts to protect human rights defenders whose vital work for human rights puts them in danger.

Dublin: Human rights defenders from more than 80 countries gather in Dublin for Front Line Platformposted on: 2007/11/28

From 22-24 November more than 100 human rights defenders from more that 80 countries gathered in Dublin Castle for the 4th Front Line Platform for Human Rights Defenders. The Dublin Platform is an opportunity for human rights defenders to share experiences, learn from each other and identify ways in which Front Line can better respond to their security needs.

Brussels: Submission on Restriction of Movement of Palestinian Human Rights Defenders and Civil Society Activistsposted on: 2007/10/22

The meeting of the sub-committee on political dialogue and co-operation between the EU and Israel represents a unique opportunity for the European Union to raise individual cases of human rights defenders at risk to the Israeli authorities. Front Line would like to draw particular attention to the restrictions on the freedom of movement of human rights defenders in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

Brussels: Front Line Receives major international award.posted on: 2007/09/07

On Tuesday 8 May 2007 the Chairman of the Board of the King Baudouin Foundation in Brussels will present the 2007 King Baudouin International Development Prize to Front Line, the International Foundation for the Protection of Human rights Defenders which is based in Dublin. The Prize will be awarded in the presence of Their Majesties H.M. King Albert, H.M. Queen Paola and H.M. Queen Fabiola.
