Prosecuted in Hungary

On 24 March 2011, the Budapest City Court sentenced Agnes Gereb to 2 years in prison, with a 5-year ban on practicing as an obstetrician/midwife. Agnes was targeted for providing homebirth services, which are criminalized in Hungary, despite the European Court for Human Rights asserting the rights of women to homebirth in 2010.
